Apple won't replace the part, but it will exchange the iPhone. If you're set on replacing the part, try a 3rd-party repair service.

What do you mean by exchange? I just need to back replaced so I can swap it with someone for their white iPhone 5 because I've got a black one and no longer want it.
Exchange: they will take your phone (and $269) and replace it with an iPhone of the same color, capacity, model and locked status as the original.
The back enclosure of the iPhone 5 is attached to most of the inner workings of the device. What you are describing is in itself a replacement of the iPhone. As carl wolf and gdmacguy explained, Apple will only replace it with the same description and configuration as the device you bring in.
i dont have that sort of money, ever since ive had my phone its been in a case but somehow there are chips taken out
