Q: Why does Apple Remote Desktop 3 ask for key everytime I use it?

Every time I try to use the Remoste Desktop, I have to enter the key, like I am using it for the very first time.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Make sure you are logged into your iMac as a user with administrator privileges the first time you launch ARD. If you are not, the key won't be saved.

    Hope this helps.

I was in as an administrator, I tried restarting, tried removing it and putting it back in.  None of those have worked.

Try removing the copy of ARD you've installed completely using the instructions here, if you haven't already, then reinstall ARD and run Software Update to get it upgraded to the latest version before attempting to launch ARD. Then launch and enter in your key and see if it holds. If not, you may have a permissions issue on your system preventing the preference from being saved.

    Regards.
