I am trying to update but even after restart the update icon is still live meaning update has not happened. What's the solution?

Q. I am trying to update OS X update 10.8.4 but is not able to. When i click to update, the computer asks for restart but even after restart the update doesn't happen. Can anyone let me know the reason

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Have you checked the version number after the update and the restart?

Ignore it. I have 3 apps that I updated via the Apple Downloads website but the App Store shows them ready to update.
