Sep 10, 2013 12:23 PM in response to mnilanby Carolyn Samit,Hi Mike...
It may be an Apple issue if it were happening to other users but I can go back pages in Safari on thee different iOS devices and four different Macs. No problems what so ever.

Actually it IS happening to other users... Apparently there is some interaction with Google that has started Safari inserting multiple copies of a single page into its history. After spinning my wheels on this, it is now clear that it IS an Apple issue (that they probably won't address). At least I know that I am not going crazy.
Your response didn't do anything helpful however, you just tried to replicate the phenomenon on your computer and couldn't, ergo I must be at fault... I still don't have any idea about how to FIX the issue, I simply have a better idea of why it is occuring.
Thanks anyway,
Mike

Thanks for the alternative move for backspace. Doesn't address the problem.

I am not doing this. I apologize for my initial post using the term "backspace key." What I meant was the "backward arrow on the the top line of Safari." At any rate the issue is the extra copies in the Safari history that is causing me grief. How do I stop it?
Thanks,
Mike

Yes, I did this already and navigation has returned to normal. Thanks. I'm still very curious about what caused the issue in the first place. I've been working on Apple computers for thirty years and haven't seen this particular malfunction before...

Sep 21, 2016 7:22 AM in response to mnilanby wa4rqd,I have the Apple USB keyboard that has the number pad. The backspace key doesn't work in Facebook, but is working as I type this message. This may be a Facebook problem.
