There will still be iPhone 5 models available to satisfy needs for replacement. Apple continues to support models even when discontinued for a period of time.

Are you sure?

I have an iphone 5 and the 5C is basically an uglyfied iphone 5 with hideous colors and a marginally improved battery life...maybe and I surely won't ever want it over my iphone 5 that I still love....I am worried that iOS 8 will skip the iphone 5 but come to the iphone 5c instead, though I can't see for the life of me why it would.

I've never heard of anything less than at least 2 iOS yearly big upgrades per generation.😐

What do you think?😕

That's what I was trying to ask...except I did not know how to put it as simply as you did 😊..but the reason I am worried the iphone 5 will stop at iOS7 is cause they just discontinued it. Hopefully I am wrong I don't see why it should stop here and if the iphone 5c can get iOS8 next year I see no reason for the iphone 5 not to..with the same specs almost...except does discontiuning a model make that happen, stopping it here at iOS7

True they are, but will the iphone 5 get next years iOS update

No one knows. No one knows if the 5C or the 5S will get "next years iOS update" either. There is no guarantee of anything. Since iOS 7 can be installed on anything going back to the iPhone 4, which was released 3 years ago, there is no reason to believe that the 5 won't get whatever comes out next year, especially since the 5C is essentially just a 5 with a cheap plastic case.

Nobody on here knows for sure what Apple will do off in the future...we can say what is likely to happen based on history. Apple has not had a record of abandoning users with a new model release. They continued to support the old PPC Mac users, the G5 class of computer, for several years after the switch to the Intel processor. You can use up through iOS 6.1.3 on the iPhone as old as the 3GS. So one can reasonably expect current iPhone 5 users to have an operating system available for some time to come.

Guys after reading your comments I only have 1 more question. When I change my iphone 5 (32gb black/slate unlock model) this december for a exact same one, and I want to buy a new iphone5S, or probably an iphone5C; what do you recommend me to do with my iphone5? Should I try to sell it on ebay? Does the fact of being discontinued have a big impact on the market (price). My applecare+ plan expires until fall of 2014.
