Sep 11, 2013 7:02 AM in response to kirkfromalby Jon Walker,Paid the money. Followed the instructkions. Entered the Key. All steps successful.
Then you must have seen the standard icon change to the "Pro" icon in the Registration window.
How do I know I have Quictime Pro now? I don't see any obvious "Quicktime Pro" file names or Icons
Can you now capture video from devices? Can you export transcoded files? Can you add filters and/or special effects to content when exporting content? Can you trim/merge content? Can to open the Properties window to mask, layer, and/or composite content? If you can, then your app has been upgraded for "Pro" use.

I replied to you in another thread, however, I should have replied here.
I've seem my logo change, but I don't see those new features. Do I need to restart?

That depends. The first step is to determine if your QT 7 Pro app is working poperly. To do this, open any file that currently opens and plays normally in QT 7 Pro player and check to see if it will allow you to "Export" the file (File menu), allow you to select/edit/trim content (Player window and Edit menu), and/or open the "Properties" window (Window menu) to view/delete/extract/edit individual tracks. If you can do these things, then QT 7 Pro is wirking properly. Next you must understand the relationship between file types (containers), the types of data (compression formats) that can be wrapped/edited in the file, and the capabilities of the media app you are using. To be compatible with QT 7 Pro, the file data must be compatible with the file type, be supported by your system's QT codec component configuration, and the media app must be programmed to recognize/use this compatibility. For instance, an MPG file containing "muxed" MPEG-2 data cannot be opened by QT 7 Pro without the QT MPEG-2 Playback component being installed on your system. And, even if this component is installed on your system, a "muxed" MPG file containing MPEG-2 video with AC3 audio will not play the audio unless you have an AC3 codec installed on your system. On the other hand, QT 7 Pro (with MPEG-2 component installed) will play both the audio and video content of a "muxed" MPG file contining MPEG-2 video with MPEG-1 layered audio—but will only convert the video content if you try to export the data because of the differences in data stream technology support. On the "third" hand, the free MPEG Streamclip app (with the MPEG-2 component installed) can both play AC3 audio without additional audio support and act as a bridge between "muxed" file data and QT elementary stream data allowing you to convert and synchronize both audio and video data which QT 7 Pro could not do on its own.

Incorrect. While searching the forum to locate similar/previously posted questions/problems and quickly findinding answers, it is normally best to open your own topic if you wish personalized responses and retain control your particular topic (e.g., award or not award credit for responses as you may see fit) as some forum users will not respond to secondary postings and original posters often resent secondary posters who, in effect, "take over" their topics.

Oct 11, 2013 5:36 PM in response to Jon Walkerby Tommyjamg,Based on your post, I think I have QTPro. Thank you!
I just wish Apple would make it more obvious.
Also, I still am not able to open mpg files and export them to Final Cut X for use. I read that QTPro would do that. What am I missing?
