When i input a word in the search bar of the mail app. it just doesnt show any result.
not able to understand whats wrong i tired rebuilding and i tried to restart the mac also tried re configuring the mail still doesnt work
pls help!!!

Rebuild the Spotlight index. If you try to search now from the magnifying-glass icon in the top right corner of the display, a pulsing dot will appear in the icon. When the dot disappears, the indexing is complete.
When I input a word like 'Smith' in the search bar of the mail app, it searches ok BUT it will not let me specify TYPE of search like the old email did. That is, I want to know FROM SMITH or TO SMITH or SUBJECT SMITH, but all it shows me is ENTIRE MESSAGE or PEOPLE options. I found I could type TO: SMITH and that sometimes but not always works, but that is really annoying when it used to be just a button to do this. Help?
In the dropdown box that shows results, select Smith and see if you get more search options to the left of Smith.
The little FROM box you show does NOT show up in my Mail...unless I actually type FROM: SMITH. .which is annoying to be forced to do every time. And even then the FROM sometimes does not show up!
The dropdown only shows PEOPLE and ENTIRE MESSAGE options, which often leads to far more emails to look at than I want.
Oh, I see now, thanks. I have to Click on Smith in the MESSAGE CONTAINS, then the little pulldown appears saying ANY:
From that I can select FROM:

Thanks again, though this still seems cumbersome compared to the old Mail where one could just click on From from the very start.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
