Well, I printed out How to transfer data from a pc to a mc and also printed out about window migration assistant. followed intstructions but it never did locate the pc and so I could not do the migration. I think maybe because the pc is hardwired and the mac is wi fi it did not recognize them as being on the same network.

So, i tried to do it all over again. This time, I can no longer find my utilities folder nor migration assistante even with the search in finder.

What do I do now?

You can download and use Migration Assistant from the PC side - Migration Assistant on the Mac should be found in your Applications->Utilities folder.

See -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2518. And http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11269.

You can connect the Mac and PC via an Ethernet cable (assuming that you've a non-Retina machine?).

You could try the Windows version of MA -> http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1557.

You would have to install OS X in order to get MA for Mac back into your system. I've no idea how it could suddenly disappear.

I'm also not sure by what you mean when you say that your PC is 'hard wired'? Normally, I would assume that means that you have an Ethernet cable plugged into your PC and a router...
