It appears many people are having the same problem. Someone just told me to restore mine back to previous update. I had to go back to May 2013. I was then able to retrieve my entire library. Left click on on iTunes then right click on Restore Previous Library.

That is a Windows function, not iTunes.
If you do it this way, you will lose anything you have added to iTunes since May 2013 (when it was last backed up).
If you follow the article above, you will not lose anything.
