To change the Wireless Security password on your AirPort, you will need to use the AirPort Utility. I am going to assume that you have version 6.x of this utility.


  • AirPort Utility > Select the Express > Edit > Wireless tab
  • You change the password by entering the new password in both the "Wireless Password" and "Verify Password" fields.
  • Click on Update and allow the Express to restart.

No, it's actually a very good question. Yes, you should always change the router's administrator password to prevent inadvertent users making unwanted changes. This would be true for any manufacturers' routers not just those from Apple.


Note; however, this is not fool-proof, as most routers have a reset button that will disable all passwords if accessed.
