'Macbook 2,1' kernel panics often after software updates.

Last week, I updated with Software Update and my Macbook has been crashing ever since. It often does it about 10 - 30 minutes after I log on and sometimes when it's still on the apple logo after powering it up.

The software I installed on 9/4/13 was

  • iTunes 11.0.5
  • Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 16.0
  • Security Update 2013-003 1.0

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Model 2,1

So I read a suggestion in another thread that involved reseating the RAM. I did exactly that and now the screen displays nothing and it doesn't make any spinning sounds as it used to. I reseated the RAM about 15 times and it never worked. I then tried starting it up without any RAM and it gives the exact same result. I'm guessing one of the boards inside is dead since it should make a sound if no RAM is installed.
