Creating an .iso image from a bootable Windows CD
I have an old Symantec Ghost program CD that I am trying to make an .iso image file from. I am a licensed user of the Ghost Product.
I have a Macbook Pro running OSX 10.8.4
I researched and found online a series of steps that include using the Mac's Disk Utility to make a .cdr image from the original bootable media. Then, steps to use the command line with a syntax as follows:
hdiutil makehybrid -iso -joliet -o ghbootcd.iso ghbootcd.cdr
What happened was that I would get an internal error in the command line of 110.
After some frustrated digging, I realised that the .cdr image that the Disk Utilty was making was 0 bytes in length and taking only about 30 seconds to create.
I have tried multiple times to go back and re-create the .cdr image, ensuring that I use the DVD-CD Master selection from the image creation screen. The curious thing is the information bar underneath the display (where it lists the media chosen to use) lists the number of files and folders as 0. Yet there are files and folders that are clearly visible on the CD in the finder window; and, I can use this CD to boot an old windows XP machine from, so I know that the original media is good.
I am thinking this is why I am getting the error messages that I am from the command line syntax, because Disk Utility doesn't appear to be reading the original CD media correctly.
Can anyone help?
Thanks very much in advance,
