Uploading from keyboard

Hi all,

I'm not sure this is where I should be asking this question, but I don't know where else to ask. If I'm totally in the wrong place, just tell me to go someplace else. LOL.

What I'm trying to do is upload a song into my computer from a Yamaha DGX 505 keyboard. The song is stored on a smart media card as a "standard midi file." Not being too media-minded, I originally thought it might be as simple as bringing up Garageband and telling it to import, but that went nowhere, (as did trying this procedure in itunes). I wondered about a card reader, but don't know if the Garageband software would recognize it. Nothing comes up on my computer screen when I connect the keyboard. (When in Garageband, it does detect that the keyboard is connected).

Anyone have any ideas? (I am on a yamaha keyboard chat board, and inquired there, but as yet, no one has been able to offer a solution).

Thanks for any advice.

Sharon

I did a quick look for you. I can't offer opinions on the brands, though I have purchased things from zipzoomfly and Mertline with no problems.

$0.00 A/R (though as I recall though have silly shipping fees

Like I said, I don't know anything about these particular products, so I'm not recommending them, these might be great, or not, just showing you what's out there.
