how to use headphone jack as audio input

I just bought a 13" Macbook Air. I can not seem to find the setting to use my headphone jack as an audio input. How do I get audio in to record with Quick Time and Garage band?? I am using a sound board that works fine with my 13" Macbook Pro. I do sound for a christian band and they like to relisten to make changes to the songs and sermon.

I wouldnt suggest it. Quality mics for laptop input are thru USB.

Or, take your audio input into a converter box ($40 + ebay) and line out to USB into your mac.

That MIC line input is for headset speaker/mic input.

Youve got 3 MIC inputs on your Air, the new Air has dual stereo MICS on the left side

or headset mic line input

and BEST is USB input for mic on either side.
