Iphone 5 wont pair with my new macbook pro

I just bought a macbook pro 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory

I saw on a fair a person using the reflector app on his macbook pro. he had just simply paired his iphone 5 with his macbook pro using bluetooth.

I tried it on my macbook pro but it wont pair.

When i searh after new devices it finds my iphone and sends a code to my iphone. my macbook pro says that my phone is now paired but not connected.

On my iphone 5 i can see my macbook pro but it says not connected. when i press "not connected" i get an error message saying that my macbook pro arent supported.

I saw in another thread somesone saying you cant pair your iphone to your macbook pro using bluetooth, but that cant be right cause i saw it yesterday at the fair.

Help anyone?

The iPhone will not natively pair with the MacBook Pro. The App you quote would be required to perform what you wish.

Beyond annoyed at this problem, especially due to the fact that the keynote remote will not work with iOs7 any other way than pairing via bluetooth. If apple are going to continually update software and bring out new products they need to make sure they work together. I have all the latest software and hardware and I am beyond angry that they won't work together for my uni presentations. Feel so let down by apple.

I find it inconceivable that Apple, the king of simplicity of operation and compatibility between their products, would make two devices with bluetooth, make applications for both to make each discoverable and set up connections, but make then unable to connect because the Macbook Pro "is not supported".

Have I just entered an alternate universe. Am I the only one who is incredulous? What was Apple thinking? Why have they not started thinking and corrected this gross "failure to communicate"?

Unbeliveable...

I'm getting the same. I use Phoneamigo to log calls which I like because it automatically enters a note into Daylite (my CRM) so I just have to add the details during the call.

I have an iPhone 4s which connects to my macbook pro, I had an iPhone 5 which would connect to my mac book pro but I sent it back to be repaired because the 'minus' button didn't work to reduce volume. Apple replaced the phone and now it won't connect. They pair ok but wont connect.

I'm running OSX 10.9 Mavericks and IOS 7.0.3 (11BS11) on both iPhones

Is there any way to get around this?

Hi,

I have tried this and yes it does connect, but only as hotspot i.e. you can connect to the internet via your phone.

Try to use this connection with Keynote remote, and while it recognises that it's connected, the app does not respond to any input anymore. Like many others, I feel disappointed by Apple on this one.😠

True you cannot simply connect between iPhone and Macbook unless you want to use the iPhone as a Bluetooth hotspot. (I use PhoneView to connect to the iPhone as a file viewer)

Even the Bluetooth hotpot process is not straightforward. To make it work I opened Bluetooth Prefs and selected pair with my iPhone 5s -- iPhone must have hotspot active. As soon as it connects and you select Pair on the iPhone, they disconnect again! But, right-click the iPhone device on the Mac and select 'Connect to Network' and there you go. However, my speed tests show that the Bluetooth hotspot connection is very slow compared to a wifi hotspot connection, so the whole process seems a waste of time other than academic exercise.
