I'm also having the same problem. I've had my iPhone about 3 months now and love it, save for the storage issue. I specifically asked the Verizon rep how many pics it could store, as I take a lot. He assured me I'd have room 'for about 1000'. I was never able to get over 100. In the beginning, I had 85 photos on my phone before running into storage problems. I've deleted a number of apps I had downloaded to free space and now just have 5 apps.(in addition to what comes with the phone)

In Photos, I have exactly:

8 recently added photos

one 36 sec. video

…and I can't take any photos or video.

The last month I deleted as much as I could, sending pics to iCloud and downloading to iPhoto on my computer, yet the available space on my phone keeps shrinking. I'm obviously missing something here as it makes no sense that I keep deleting and yet have less space for photos than previously.

Going into settings/usage, (under Photos and Camera) I have 598 MB in 'Photo Library', 80.9MB in 'My Photo Stream', and 275MB used in 'Shared Photo Stream'. Is there a way to delete 'My Photo Stream' and 'Shared Photo Stream'? And are the 13 pics and a 36 sec. video taking up 598 MB of space?

Is there something else I should be looking at? I'm not good at deleting e-mails and tend to let them sit in the In box after reading - could that be a factor? Is there a second 'trash' needed (as on my computer) to actually be rid of them? Or does the initial 'delete' take care of it?

TIA - much appreciated.

The helpful responders here don't have a clue to this problem! At first I thought I might be the only one with this problem which started earlier this year after updating the IOS on my iPhone4. Now last night a friend with a newer generation iPhone had the exact same problem. Hummmm ....... so a not so nice fix was to use iTunes to download the photos to my laptop and I had the box checked to delete the originals. That did free up space but I didn't want all the photos off the iPhone. What the responders don't realize is that we can delete all the apps, music, video and photos we want but it's still like in the trash can. The trash can must be emptied somehow! Until then we keep getting the error message and the camera is dead in the water, that is unless you use the iTunes workaround I mentioned. There has to be a better fix than this!
