Hello,

I'm writing from my new iPhone 5, but the issue is with my old iPhone 4 which I want to unlock.

I'm having difficulties following the steps provided by my old carrier. I just cannot find the buttons where to click. Can you help, please?

Connect your phone to your computer with itunes up and an internet connection. In itunes click on the iphone image in the iphone button. To get to summary. Once in Summary you will see an update and restore button. Click on restore.

You are saying that the carrier you had the iPhone 4 locked to has authorized the unlock? If so and you are following their directions, what buttons are you having trouble finding? All it generally takes is for you to connec the iPhone to iTunes, select the device and restore.

Yes! That's right Chris, or at least what I thought it would be... The email I received's asking me to restore my old phone from the bottom restore button from within iTunes, not the top one. There's no restore button at the bottom, believe me...

The newer iTunes has the buttons in a different location. See this, and if you are using the latest iTunes, then go to the Restore button that is next to the Check for Updates button. You should see this screen after you have connected to iTunes and then selected the phone in the device pane.

Plug to iTunes.
Backup.
Restore as new. You should get the message "congratulations your phone is unlocked". Activate the phone.
Restore from backup.
