Using Firepod as direct in for guitar, Garage Band not picking up

Hello,

I just bought a Presonus Firepod. I want to try using it as an interface for electric guitar into garage band. My system settings have picked up the firepod. I installed the disc the came with the firepod. And garage band has it set as the input. I even used garage band's built in guitar tuner to tune my guitar but for some reason when I try to record or playback what I recorded I get no sound. It's like it isn't picking up the guitar somehow. I have the output set as my speakers. Dont know if I have the latest garage band version though. Never paid for the 15$ ilife one. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks!
