I have two iTunes account. Is there a way of merging the two accounts. The original account was created several years ago prior to purchase of an iphone. How and where do I go to check my credit card information?

First of all, content bought using one Apple cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID.

Apps, books and music are tied to that Apple ID.
