Simplest way is to use Migration Assistant on your computer to copy your old computer account to the new computer.

Everything will be copied over and your iPhone will sync same as it did.

I downloaded Detunes on to my MacBook Pro, but my files did not show up when the program opened up. It showed my iPhone, but the left side was blank. I tried different things to get the files to copy anywhere but no luck. Is it because they are odm files (overdrive media - audiobooks borrowed from the library) and protected? It's frustrating because I just want to listen to the books but as soon as the borrowing time expires or if I have to change phones, I'm stuck. I can listen to some on my device or iTunes, but I have to send the device back and recent updates on iTunes wiped out the ones there. If you have encountered and solved this problem, what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your expertise!

What roaminggnome said is still relevant. Don't use your iPhone as a storage/transfer device.

You have to go to ~/Music/iTunes in your previous account (I presume you mean that you made a "new account" on your Mac) and copy all its contents to somewhere in your new account (not ~/Music/iTunes). Then drag the entire iTunes folder onto the iTunes app icon.

I was having this exact same problem myself till I figured it out.
1.) With your iPhone plugged in, click on the iPhone button near the top right of iTunes next to iTunes Store.

2.) Click "On This iPhone"

3.) Click "Add To"

4.) Then you can drag music to your phone from your albums, songs list, playlists, etc.
Hope that can indeed help you transfer music from iPhone to iTunes successfully! If I didn't clarify it enough, let me know!
