Can I install an SSD and HDD drive into a Macbook Pro9,1?

I have a Macbook Pro9,1 and i would like to move the internal HDD to the optical drive position (after removing the optical drive) and replace it with an SSD. Is this possible?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

I have seen postings about replacing the optical with the SSD but nothing about moving the existing HDD to the optical position and putign the SSD where the original HDD was.

Moving conventional HD to the optical bay and putting the boot drive into the internal HD bay, using a new SSD is what most do.

You either want A: a large HD in main, and additional HD in optical bay

OR , B; ideally, a SSD in main boot internal bay, and moving the HD (or a larger one) into the optical bay.

the boot drive MUST BE in the internal HD bay however.

So I too would have thought.

many others have encountered a problem that way.

Neil (somewhere) has a long thread about same with a couple people who ran into errors with same.

I wonder if there is a shell command to keep the MBP from keep looking for the boot volume in in the internal bay.

Ive booted new volumes from everywhere, optical bay, USB, etc. ,....but user indications keep reporting faults / problems from designating the optibay as the primary boot volume.
