I try to click on my messages. A white screen pops up then the app closes automatically. I've tried resetting it, formatting it then backing it up from itunes, I've resetted the settings, and nothing happens. I'm very ticked off right now. This happened when a friend sent me a picture message of a GIF. Any help would be appreciated.

Not exactly sure whqt you mean by "formatting" (not an iOS procedeure - do you mean restoring?) Restore in iTunes first using a backup and if needed as a new phone.
Yeah, that's what I meant. I tried that and it didn't work out so well. I'll try again though.
Restore as new, without using a backup. Your data and backup are corrupted.
