Clear your preferred networks from your Airport Utility, and attempt connecting to Other network from your Airport menu to connect to your original network. Make sure you are 15 to 150 feet (5 meters to 50 meters) away from your router, and within line of sight when you do so. You may need to reset your router and reconfigure the password, or check if the router has a firmware update for 10.8.5 compatibility. If you were using WEP connections, those are inherantly insecure, and you should use only WPA2 unless you are over 1500 feet (500 meters) from the nearest possible person who may try to connect that you don't know.
Wi-Fi is turned off. Wifi can't turn it on in the Network preference pane.
So you are saying when you click on Turn Wi-Fi On, it gives you an error that it can't turn it on?
Yes.
Delete Wi-Fi interface by clicking on "-" and then create a new one by clicking on "+".

Manage two rounds. but does not work.
Good advice, and if that doesn't work, go into your System Profiler by going to Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info -> System Report, and selecting Wi-Fi under Network. If it shows nothing there, or it shows no card detected, then it is possible your PRAM battery or capacitor needs replacing, or your airport card needs reseating. http://www.ifixit.com/explains how each computer at least can have its airport card reseated and antenna placed correctly. I am unsure if you have a capacitor or battery. Hopefully the latter, since the former requires a logicboard replacement once it no longer works. 4 years is the typical life of the battery. A surge can damage the capacitor.
Thank you for your comment.
Now you can use it.
How does this help. Solve what.
Thé - and + did not help me. =no change still ont seeing wifi network
I've just updated and my wifi will not turn on either. Apple has screwed up something here.
Barters,
Please start a new topic thread here. You have one of several dozen possible issues, as are outlined here*. Please make sure your new thread is very specific as to what router you are using in the topic, and what you've tried from the possible issues. Do not assume that 10.8.5 is the issue. It is some combination of factors. Each person's set of issues need to be isolated individually. If you let others join your thread saying "me too", you'll likely get lost in the shuffle. Generic subject lines frequently attract more "me toos". The more specific you can get, the better.
Then go back and look for a possible hardware issue, as I suggested. If software can't detect your wireless, then it likely is a hardware issue. You can always add a WiFi ethernet bridge as it appears your ethernet does work.
Brody how can it be a hardware issue if everything worked until I upgraded the software 30 mins ago?
