I'm having lots of problems with my airport extreme.  My ipad and iphones have been having incredibly weak signals if any at all where they used to be very strong.  However, my apple tv and my wifi conncections through my sony blu ray are fine.  My airport extreme has been blinking yellow for some time.  I am unable to do both a hard or soft reset as nothing changes, it just continues to blink amber.  In airport utiliity, the program cant even find the airport.  When i unplugit entirely, my computer says that the airport is still on.  My internet connection on the computer itself is strong.  Any suggestions would be extremely welcomed.

Unfortunately, your description of the problem seems to be contradictory, but, of course, anything is possible.

At this point I would recommend that you perform a "factory default" reset on the AirPort Extreme. Note that this may take a few attempts to get it to "stick." It would be normal for the Extreme to continue to flash amber after this type of reset as it still requires some additional configuration changes to be completed.

The airport isnt plugged in, not the computer.  SO nothing contradictory there.  I tried the reset but it didnt work.  It was as if i wasnt resetting anything at all so i'm back to the beginnning...flashing amber.

A persistent, flashing amber light indicates that any of the several potential conditions may require your attention:

    • The base station has not yet been configured because it is new, or the reset switch has been set.
    • You have selected a security configuration that is not recommended.
    • One of several other conditions, such as a disconnected Ethernet cable or invalid IP address has been detected.

If you run the AirPort Utility, it will show an amber circle on the summary page next to the area(s) causing the problem. Click on this amber circle and it should provide an explanation. Please post your results.

The airport utility cannot see my airport.  When I rescan it doesn't find anything.

Temporarily connect your computer directly to the AirPort using an Ethernet cable, and then, try accessing it with the AirPort Utility again.

nope.  i connected it via ethernet and it still cant see it.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you may have a failed unit. I would recommend that you bring it to you local Apple Store to have them verify your findings.
