recently, I have noticed that whenever I run safari, my browsing history is erased, and my download list only shows one item after i restart safari. how do i fix this issue? I think the settings got locked somehow after i restored from backup. thanks!

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the General tab.
Click the Remove history items pop up menu to change your settings.
For downlooaded files. In the same General tab you'll see: Save downloaded files to:
Files are downloaded to the folder you have selected there.
