Copy a piece of text that sits on a colored background (let’s say non -white) can’t paste it onto a different colored background bc the colored background will paste with it

Like above is there a fix or a setting that will prevent this copying the bg colours?

    Hi ...

is there a fix or a setting that will prevent this copying the bg colours?

Copy and paste the line above into a Text Edit window

Then drag across to select the entire sentenence.

Then click the a background color box at the top of the windoow. The one on the right and click white.

Now copy and paste it back:   is there a fix or a setting that will prevent this copying the bg colours?

I apprecite that it can be done using text editors but that is a ball ache to be honest, I was hoping for an extention or a simple fix, this does not happen with Firefox, which I previously used but this is annoying...

Thanks for your reply though it is appreciated.

Is Paste & Match Style suitable ? (it'll still copy the b/g, but won't paste it)

the shortcut can be modified in system preferences if it's awkward as standard.

Can you explain what that is please?

Most apps have 'Paste & match style' under the edit menu. Command - Option - Shift - V is the standard shortcut, which can be overridden in System Preferences.

Sorry, I should I given a little more detail, this is mainly for when I am online using a discussion forum like this so not really with apps as such. Thank you for replying though.

As I said I do not get this with any of the other browsers but I want to use Safari obviously

Safari is an app too, and it has the Paste & Match style menu item under edit .

It it suits your needs, and you find the shortcut awkward - that can be changed for Safari or all applications in System Preferences - Keyboard - Keyboard Shortcuts

So on this site, if I copy the coloured text above my text box, then choose  Safari - Edit - Paste & Match style... I get this line:

use the recovered version or delete it?

But if I paste normally - I get this

use the recovered version or delete it?
