icloud icon has an exclamation point in middle can't play songs

All of my songs have a cricle with and exclamation point in the middle. In additon, the icloud icon also has an exclamation point in the middle. I can't play any songs. Two error messages come up. The first is "the original file cannot be found would you lke to locate" I though it should pull directly from the cloud ? the scond message is "item was not added to icloud becasuse and error occurred. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like the iTunes Match library is missing or corrupt. The exclaimation point in the cloud icon means (from http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4124):

"This icon may be displayed if the song file is corrupt or if there was an error uploading the song. Try updating iTunes Match (Store > Update iTunes Match) to resolve this. If updating does not resolve the issue, try importing a new copy of the song into your iTunes library."

If this is happening in iTunes on your computer, iTunes will try to locate the song on your computer if that's where it originated from rather than from iCloud because it assumes it is still there.

You may want to post this question over in the iTunes Match forum: https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_match.
