Q: Mac OSX Mountain Lion Keeps Crashing - Help!

Over the last month or so my iMac has crashed about a dozen times.  Sometimes a specific app has crashed, other times, the iMac has simply rebooted itself (giving me a white background with an Apple logo and text similar to 'Your computer has restarted due to an error' in multiple languages).

I have run the disk repair utility, including repairing permissions, and have quit and uninstalled the apps that appeared to be causing the issue, all to no avail.

The most recent panic report text is as follows - can somebody please suggest how i can fix this?  Cheers

    1. This is a kernel panic. OS X: About kernel panics
      1. If you look at the list of kernel extensions (the "kexts"), the culprit is probably logmein.
      2. So a good place to start would be to uninstall LogMeIn.
    2. Then I would do some routine maintenance by booting into your recovery partition and repairing your hard drive. Here's a reference: When to Run First Aid in Mountain Lion's Disk Utility - For Dummies
    3. While you're in the recovery partition, repair permissions too.
    4. Then see how things work.

If you use Logmein just from your mac to log in other computers, you should only install the plugins, then you will not have the logmein.sound.driver. And then Logmein is harmless.

If you want to be "visited" yourself, maybe you have less trouble with Teamviewer.

Thanks for the quick response.  Will do as you suggest and report back.

Whilst waiting for a response, I ran a memory test using Rember, and at the first test, got the following message.  I recently added memory (an additional 16gb).  Could this also be the problem?

That is the cause. The memory looks the right spec (iMac is very critical about exactly the right spec).

If you left the 4GB in, let them be at the original slot. Are you sure you have seated them well?

I have not have any info on G.Skill in Mac. I would advise only use Crucial or OWC....

If you have reseated them again, and the problem persists, take both new chips out, then put one in only, any problems? If yes, take the chip out and mark the chip, then put the other one in; if no take it out and put the second one in. If problems again, mark the chip and take it out.

If there are still problems with all chips in, take the original 4GB out, and see if you still have kp's, if so return the ram and have G.Skill send a guaranteed set 2x8GB.
