rearrange channel strips?

Hi all,

Is there a trick to rearranging the order of channel strips in Mainstage's mixer? There are posts on the net from '08 / '09 that say no, but I swear I just did this yesterday and now it will not work for the life of me!

I've got some channels set at Concert level (aux busses mostly), some at Set level (Playback channels and vocals) then create sounds that will change within the song at the Patch level. I just want to be able to have my vocal channel always be first in the mixer, but now when I add channels they're comming before (to the left of) that channel and I can't move them.

I love MS, but I swear it is gaslighting me! ha ha...

Thoughts?

many thanks!

Logic Pro X, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), Mainstage, Reason, Ableton.

Hey CCT. You seem to be the "one in the know" around these parts. Thanks a lot!

Yes, I'm having the same "intermittent" issue myslef. Sometimes I can re-order channels, sometimes not. And it's not tied to the Concert / Set / Patch hierarchy. However, it is this very hierarchy that causes the need to re-order, right?

I'm trying really, really hard to use only Mainstage for my live gigs and have a purely software based show. I'm close, but issues like this channel strip thing make it hard to effectively execute or impliment ideas you might have.

I'll assume / hope that Apple is monitoring feedback here and will address this issue in a future update.

Thanks again, CCT!

Having the same issue. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why sometimes I can click/drag a channel strip and other times not. The one thing that seems to be the most consistent is clicking on the strip then holding for a second before trying to move. Yet, even that doesn't produce results 100% of the time. Other times if I select another patch, and then come back to the first patch and try, it works. Weird. I sent feedback via the link above to Apple. Maybe if enough people do that they'll look into it 😉

... and, some how the Space Bar now means Enter / post my reply.... (sigh)..

At any rate, it's still a case that sometimes they move, and sometimes they don't. Being an "Apple snob" and Locic user since 3.5, I've reluctantly given up on Mainstage and am now using Ableton Live for gigs. It's a very strange program and the learning curve is not making me happy. BUT, 3 weeks into Live and I'm lightyears past were I ever got with MS (after 3 years of trying to get it to do what I need)

Much appreciated and thanks again for your input!

Oh, they probably know me very well over there in "Feedback Land". I've sent them about a half dozen reports on everything from this fader issue, to the Prefs window opening behind plug windows, to lack of Rewire slave mode, to the Looper plugin completely missing the point of how people want to use it...etc, etc. Mainstage is SUCH a great idea and I hate not having a GUI I can customize in Live (I was very spoiled by that in MS), but what can you do?

I'm off to a gig tonight using Live for the first time in front of people, so I'm nervous, and I REALLY miss all my great sounding Logic plugs, but hey... at least I'm finally in business and making music on stage...

Thanks CCTM!
