Help!! My MacBook has suddenly started to reject CDs before reading them. I am trying to insert backup CD's I burned myself, but the drive whirrs then ejects the disk.

Have you tried inserting a differently formatted CD? Try to insert a copyrighted music CD, what happens?
Well, believe it or not, I just tried a backup CD again and it worked. Is it perhaps just a dirty lens?

Sometimes the optical drive can't read the disc if there are fingerprints. A quick wipe with a clean damp cloth can help.
I think it had to do with improperly formatted data CDs that your machine wasn't recognizing.
It couldn't be that, because it's a CD I burned myself and have used many times before. I do think though that dust is the problem. I'm gonna buy a drive cleaner this coming week!
