iPhone 4S can't always find my network nor the windows computer

Anyone up for a challenge? I've been having this problem for a few months now and no one, anywhere, can figure it out. Here's the situation: I have 2 MacBook Pros at home. The main one is up to date with OSX10.8.5. The older one runs 10.6. I've also got a MacBook Air and a iPad. My husband uses a PC running Windows 7, and we each got a 4S iPhone a few months ago that we signed up with on my husband's account (linked to his PC computer). This is when the trouble began.

Ever since we got the new iPhones they do not consistently find the home AirPort (Extreme) network and we mostly operate from the 4G (AT&T) system. I did reset AirPort a few days ago and then the phones, and my husband's computer did find the network. Yea! Then, last night, an automatic upgrade was done to from 10.8.4 to 10.8.5 on the main computer -- and now, again, our phones and the PC cannot find the network.

Has anyone else had this strange problem? Are there any experts out there who might have some insight and suggestions for things I might try?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), AirPort Extreme

Hi, liter8.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

As you are experiencing issues with Apple and Windows products, this sounds access point related. Wi-Fi routers need adjustments to settings periodically for optimized performance with the constant progression of wireless device technology. This issue could be complex so I would start with adjusting the router settings. Below, I have included two articles. The first article will cover basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting regarding iOS device connection. The second article cover the recommended settings for current Wi-Fi access points.
