How do i find the carrier of my iphone 4, i need to unlock the phone so that it could be use here in india, how do i do that, and how much it probably cost to unlock, is it possible to do it through online ?

The SIM card will have the carrier ID. Only the carrier can unlock your iPhone.
How did you get the phone? If you bought it from someone, ask them. You will have to contact the carrier and they will tell you their unlocking policies. Most require that you be a current client to qualify for the unlock.
You can also try to contact Applecare. They might be able to tell you who the phone is locked to. Click on the Support tab on this page.
Ask whoever you bought it from in the first place or call AppleCare and give them the serial number.
