my iphone started repeating the same song, and the repeat icon is GONE. Does this require resetting the music app?

my iphone started repeating the current song over and over, but the repeat icon is gone. Does this mean I need to reload the music app? how could it have been currupted. Why is there even a repeat song "feature" and who the f@#*7 would ever use it?
