battery not holding charge

My battery went from holding a charge for 2 days to not even half a day. This happened in one day. It was suggested that I back up the phone, erase it and then restore it. Is this a good solution?

Hi crtvdsn,

You might find the following resource helpful in troubleshooting iPhone battery life:

Battery life seems short

Click (www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html) for tips on how to prolong iPhone's battery life.

Try turning iPhone off and then on again.

Connect iPhone to iTunes and restore iPhone.

If the screen shows a low-battery image, the battery is low on power and needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it.

When charging iPhone, make sure to leave it charging until it is fully charged. You'll know the battery is fully charged when the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen looks like this User uploaded file.

Note: When charging using a computer, don't connect iPhone to a keyboard. Also, the computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPhone battery may drain.

Note: Charging with a FireWire-based power source is not supported, except on original iPhone.

If you continue to have battery-life issues, the answer to your qeustion is Yes. Restoring an iPhone is a great isolation step to determine if the issue is hardware-related:

Did it help? My daughter has the same problem with her 5s and the guy at the apple store told that it was because of the apple apps (preloaded) that were draining the battery. Suggestion was to wipe and restore but these apps will still be there?? Sounds like Apple gave everyone apps that will drain their batteries.

I can tell that the folks at the Apple store was less than helpful with the guy commenting that we already have had the phone for 11 months (as if that justified the problem)
