Xserve - starts with folder and question mark

Tried the safe boot and TDM etc. with no success.

Here is the setup:

We have an XServe with 3 drives.

One has the OS and other two are mirrored RAID

The OS drive seem to have failed or having issues, the light is blue on the drive.

We want to know if we can swap the OS drive out and replace it with OS drive from another Xserve?

Will affect the data on the mirror?

thanks,

Raj

Provided the other XServe is also an Intel-based machine (and not a PowerPC-based XServe), then, yes, you should be able to swap the drive and boot the system from it.

As for data on the RAID, that should be intact, and should mount just fine under the other system's boot volume - all the RAID data is stored on-disk and isnt' tied to a particular boot volume.
