I am looking to implement a POS system using my iPad, What is the best software and hardware for POS?

One of my clients wants to transition to an iPad POS system and I want to know what are the best software and hardware options?

I am going to completely upgrade the hardware so I'll need solutions for card readers, printers, cash drawers and iPad enclosures that are compatible with an iPad POS system.

Any help would be appreciated!

I just read that post. I loved the Tattoo guy! Wish my tattoo artist had an iPad enclsure kiosk when I got my Tatto, would have saved me the trouble of looking through all those books 🙂 I jent talked to them online and the sales rep was cool. What color do you think looks better? http://www.maclocks.com/ipad-enclosure-ipad-mount-ipad-kiosk/ipadmountbundle-300 7.html

POS Lavu have a good system; compatible with iPad and Airport devices, as well as Star printers connected to a cash drawer, all triggered from the iPad. I have uinstalled the system in a few restaurants and it's a great piece of software but it doesn't do everything. It does provide table layout plans, a full menu with pictures, inventory, etc. but it does not (since I last checked) have an account system. You can export files as Excel spreadsheets or as csv files but otherwise, it's a great system.

You can request a demo from them. http://www.poslavu.com/

Good luck!

We're a small business and we decided to go on iPad POS deployment and started researching. We chose Maclocks iPad POS stand since it is the most secured way to use your iPad as a POS plus its design is awesome and takes 2 minutes to set it up! They have it for iPad mini too.

I've been through a LONG research period on just this subject. I run a sailing school and most of the iPad POS market seems tailored around the food service industry. Having looked at virtually everyone, we are going with SalesVu. They have some GREAT integrated ad-ons for small business. Social/Email Marketing; Quickbooks online sync; CRM; Gift Cards. They also have a solid relationship with Mercury Merchant processing and it looks like that will save us quite a bit of money in discount fees over the year.

Had a couple of bumps in getting set up as is always the case with something that is so imbedded into your business but I seem to be on track now.

One thing, I have 20,000 customers in my client list and it uploaded (with help from SaleVu staff) great into the system. Nice to have access and CRM right on the iPad.

They have a relationship with http://mposgear.comand I plan on buying the Windfall system. Seems well done and simple. http://mposgear.com/detail.php?product=363&category_id=9

Buying the Star thermal printer, assuming the software will allow me to print a customer copy. http://mposgear.com/detail.php?product=2&category_id=2

I'll report back on how this all goes.
