Q: How to record firewire iSight video and line-in audio?
I am working on a PowerBook G4 running MacOS v.10.5.8.
I need to record video from an exernal firewire iSight webcam and audio through a 3.5mm jack input. If I was playing piano this would be simple to record audio and video seperately and sync them up later, however the audio I am recording is coming from a scientific device that cannot be synched with the video, I need them to be recorded together.
I am able to do this using the built-in iSight camera and the line-in on my MacBook Pro 10.7.5 in iMovie or Photobooth or Quicktime with no problems, but not on the PowerBook (I need to be able to use the external iSight). I have been into System Preferences, Audio MIDI SetUp and the Preferences of each of these programs and changed the settings to take video and audio from the two different sources, but the result is either video without audio or video with audio from either the built in mic or the iSight mic. It appears as though the the older versions of these programs are unable to record AV from two sources at the same time (this seems to be all people know about it on other forums). I have looked at a lot of other Q&A's solved by simply changing settings or recording A/V serperately and syncing, but as I said this is not possible.
At this point I am willing to accept that it is not possible on a PowerBook, but I would be very thankful if someone knew of a good piece of older software that could record the way I want. Could an older Final Cut handle this?
Thanks in advance!

What a joke! I never thought it worked in Quicktime becuase it turns out someting is messed up with the speakers, as soon as I put my headphones in I can hear the audio it was supposed to be recording!
