I recently purchased a used 17" iMac G5 and want to replace the hard drive. I have extensive experience fixing pc but this Mac does not open. Any guides I could be linked to?

That model is not intended to be user serviceable and requires special tools.
I would proceed with extreme caution or better still leave to an authorized Apple repairer.
