So I've been wondering this, does LTE use more data than 3G? I asked Verizon a long time ago when I first got my iphone 5 and they said no, well recently when I'm at school my battery's been dying really fast so I turned off LTE and realized that I don't use nearly as much data as I was with LTE.

LTE is the data connection, it does not use it.

Your Apps may use more data if LTE is enabled as they can download faster through it.

LTE is much faster than 3G, so if you have apps/mail, etc that load data over the cellular network it's possible you are downloading more especially since many people would "abort" loads on the slower networks by shutting down the apps before everything loads completely.
