I've seen old topics on here about hiding updates in the Mac App Store, but they do not work for me.
I click "More..." on the app's information, but there is no option to hide the update. This is very frustrating and it's even more frustrating that I can't find a workaround for this anywhere.

You can remove the App Store icon from the Dock to avoid seeing the red update badge. Click and drag the app icon straight up off the Dock. It will go, "poof".
I don't want to do that. I just don't want to be shown updates for an app that I don't even have installed.
Check your software for VALID copies. There are cracks out there that creat this update. I had a similar situation with a video editing app and once I deleted it the update went away. NOT saying you've pirated anything but this is well-known if you Google around a bit.I bought a MacBook Pro used and it had some cracked software on it that caused this issue. it's a mehtod to tie the license of the cracked app to a legit app to fool the App Store for registration blocking.
