What happens if i delete my mobile applications folder?

I have a 64GB air & it's always full. I try to keep it out of the red but have trouble doing so. I have gone thru many files etc.. trying to find the big hitters as far as memory usage. The mobile applications folder is a big one. So what happens if i delete that content? Aside from gaining that storage space back. Will it cause me any problems?

The Mobile Applications folder contains all the iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod) apps you've downloaded via iTunes or synced to your computer from the iOS device. If you delete the folder, if at some date in the future you have to reset your iOS device to factory conditions and reinstall everything you'll be forced to download all the applications from iTunes again. (You've paid for them so that's not an issue.) Worse, you'll have to remember what apps you were using. Also, vendors can pull their apps from service (or Apple can pull them) and if you don't have them in the Mobile Applications folder you'll have lost them forever.

If you really need the hard drive space, rather than deleting them, copy them to an external drive or a flash drive for safe keeping. Other files that are good candidates for moving elsewhere are video, music, and photos. These are all large files.
