Program to split video into 60 second intervals?

I have many videos which vary in length from 30 minutes to over an hour. I need to split these videos into 60 sec clips. I have FCP X but I don't want to have to use the blade tool to manually split all the videos = too much time. Is there another program that I could download to purchase to split a video into equal segments? Or is there some way to do it quickly with FCP X?

Thank you for any advice.

Disregard people asking why anyone would want to split videos without having any actual solution to offer. There can be many reasons one needs that functionality.

I too was looking for such a tool but had not had any luck on the Mac. The QTCoffee link someone helpfully posted does not work now since it has been a few years already. That app is available for download on MacUpdate as I was able to find, but I did not try it as it seems to be an app last updated 10 years ago.

I did find Video Splitter: Split Any Large Movie into Small Pieces Effortlessly but have not tried it yet. It is downloading now so I am sharing the info as is.

If by any chance your original media is on an iOS device perhaps you could try the iOS app I just downloaded and am going to try out Video Splitter on the App Store too.

Hope this helps.

Hi Ian,

I work with video research data. We need to analyze smaller segments of video that are equal to each other and then selected at random, hence, my request. In fact, there is a program that performs this function - Mpeg Splitter (http://mpeg-splitter.en.softonic.com) but it's only for Windows and it's not working with our newer version of Parallels since it's an older program.

We have FCP X, but I thought there may be another program that could split the videos automatically.

The short answer is, fortunately, a resounding YES!

And free to boot.

Free or donationware for personal use, an inexpensive license for commercial use.

Look at QtCoffee, in particular the splitmovie utility. It does exactly what you want.

It can split a movie at fixed intervals (or in a given number of pieces).

(not affiliated with the makers of the software in any way, but I have used it occasionally and successfully)
