Launchpad and the app store.

I have just bought a macbook air. I logged on to the app store using my apple ID in order to download my previously purchased apps on ipad. the apps downloaded okay but they did not transfer to the launchpad.

An app I downloaded for the first time went straight to the lanchpad however.

What am I doing wrong please? I have seen a few other questions similar to this but they have not been answered as far as I can see.

Just to confirm, they are not appearing on page to of the launchpad either - and there are no further 'pages'.
