Macbook Pro will not connect to public wifi

My Macbook Pro will not connect to public wifi. It says its connected in network and then when I try to use it in a browser it says I am not connected. I just got it a week ago, works fine at home, but not at any public places (panera/starbucks) I tired changing the location and couldnt find the DNS server. any tips/ solutions would be much appriciated!

Oh and another tip: if you really want to use safari. Use chrome to accept the wifi connection conditions. Then just switch back over to safari. It must be some setting in safari that blocks the pages that ask you to accept the terms of using the public wifi. It isn't the pop up setting as I changed those first thinking that was the issue but no dice. Good luck!

I experienced the same problem. What Mac OS are you running? I using Yosemite.

I also tried setting my home wifi up so it had no password like a public wifi and it worked fine. I think this is a hack against the Mac OS. i tried it at KFC and Starbucks both gave IP and DNS and I had a proper signal but no internet connectivity.

It is not the Mac's hardware because I have Windows 7 running on my Mac (bootcamp) and it worked.
