Unable to stream live radio

I have a MacBook laptop and I'm currently unable to stream live radio to it. It had been working. My tech updated it and now it won't stream.

Is there a setting some place that I need to set to get it going again?

Worthwhile to ask what the tech did to update it, they may be able to tell you why it will not stream. If the tech cannot help, more information is required into how you used to use the streaming radio, any other problems with the network etc.

I will look up the OSX tomorrow. I've asked the tech and honestly I feel I'm getting the run around. Where am I when I'm streaming--at work. I play the music for the students while they are working.

Are you using iTunes, a web browser or an application to stream music and as Klaus said, which providor are you streaming from?

I'm using OS 10.6.8. To stream I am going directly to the radio stations using Safari.

I don't know of any network issues.

Can you play music stored on the Macbook using iTunes? Just testing to make sure that the audio on the Macbook actually works.
Can you use iTunes to listen to radio stations. Testing the network.
If neither of those will play music there is something wrong with the sound system in the Macbook, it may be as simple as a setting in System Preferences.
If you can play music via your library stored on the Macbook but not radio via iTunes, there could be a network setting incorrect, but I am not sure what that would be.
If you can listen to music in both those ways, we will need to look at settings you have in Safari, again not sure what that would be either.
There is also the possibility that your school/college has started blocking radio streaming for some reason.

1. I can play my iTunes music.

2. The radio stations within iTunes haven't worked for quite awhile, which is why I went to the internet.

4.I wondered about the Network settings, but I couldn't find anything.

5. I've looked in Safari too and couldn't find a setting.

6. I wonder about the blocking.

I was hoping someone would have a fix or a setting that I could go to and check it.

Maybe someone else know of a quick fix, not me unfortunaley, it is also a while since I used 10.6.8.

At least the audio system works correctly.

Few more questions.

Do you have any extentions in Safari preferences, such as Ad block, Flash block etc, these can stop streaming working? I cannot remember if these extentions were available for Snow Leopard.

Did you use a Proxy server in your network settings that as been disabled by the software upgrade, or have they set one up for you in network settings to use the school network?

Do use a particular station, if so what is it and I will try it on my computer. It may give some pointers to what is stopping on your computer.

and I should have asked this before, can you steam radio from other locations, say at home etc.
