Both carriers use the same frequency bands and the TMO iPhone 5s will work similarly on either of them. Someone, in a previous response in this thread, had provided a link to Airtel's iPhone page. Please also look at that to see how bands between TMO and Airtel iPhones line up. But, in a nutshell, the TMO 5s will work similarly on both Airtel & Vodafone.

But, before you purchase a US iPhone, do a forum search so you can read about the users, in India, who do so, but can't get any warranty or support for US iPhones in India.

No. It is not. It will not work with LTE networks outside of North America.

if vodafone use 1800mhz lte band in india. and as i m using vodafone. so what happpen in that case? can i use 4g?

Apple states, quit clearly, that if you use an iPhone, designed to use LTE in one country, in any other country, LTE support is NOT guaranteed. You pay your money & you take the risk.

Im also getting an iPhone 5S T-Mobile Contract Free model from US. Can I activate the iPhone in India with my airtel SIM directly? Please suggest me.

they said you can use the t-mobile contract free phone in india with any localgsm card ! 🙂
