There's nothing you can do & unless you can find the previous owner there is no way to activate your phone. Apple can't/won't help you, & no one here can.

No. Talk to whoever you bought it from. If that person doesn't have the information, odds are the phone is stolen.

If you don't know who the previous owner is you now have a beautiful paperweight.

Or you can try emailing that person and see if they want to help you.

That would be a problem then if the entire email address isn't displayed... sorry for misleading you. I haven't actually seen the popup msg since I first upgraded a few wks back so didn't recall it exactly.

Unfortunatley, you have probably been duped out of your hard earned money.

Before you buy another second-hand phone, ensure the owner unlocks it for you first. Here is a good guide:

This is the way it is supposed to work. This is a security feature that prevents restoring or reactivating a phone without the original owners consent. Stolen phones cannot be used again unless the original owner approves. People buying used phones must check the phone to make sure it will be usable. People buying from shady sources will eventually learn this new way and stop buying from those kinds of sources.
