Sprint-unlocked iPhone won't activate in Germany

I'm here in Germany and my parents called Sprint to have them unlock my iPhone 4s. I got an email saying they'd submitted the request to Apple, and once I waited the suggested time, I reset my iPhone via "Settings". Now, it wont't activate because my iPhone is just saying "searching...", and when I plug it into iTunes, it says "We're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time." Am I completely screwed until I get back home in 8 months?

iPhone 4S, Sprint said they'd unlocked it

You need to plug it into iTunes and RESTORE the phone to complete the unlock.

Sprint left out a step for the unlock process:

Backup, Erase the phone, Plug into iTunes with internet connection, (wait for unlock) and then Restore

What German provider are you using?

I can confirm that the Sprint iPhone 4S works on all of the German networks, Vodafone, E+, 02, T-mobile, etc.

Ah, as in restore it to factory settings? I clicked that, am and now waiting for the software to download. It should work after that? Thanks!

Well, that's a problem since I already restored it. I'm using ALDI Talk with a SIM card that I activated with my host father's phone. Danke!
