Q: iTunes Radio stops after one song

Just downloaded 11.1 and started a new radio station. I continued adding bands while Radio played two songs from the original band. The third song played from a different band and when it was done, so was iTunes. The station just stopped with the Play control available. I clicked it and got a Nissan commercial followed by the third song (that just played). I hit skip. iTunes stopped again. I quit iTunes and relaunched. Went back to the station, hit play and got that same third song. I let it play out and it stopped again. Can't seem to do anything else.

I'm pretty sure it's not the DNS entry. Radio works fine on my MBP but not on my Mac Pro and both are set to use the default Uverse DNS. It must be a setting or preference somewhere. MBP is using wifi, Mac Pro is ethernet. I left iTunes open on my Mac Pro and it started restreaming radio after pausing for about 20 minutes. Could be a throttling setting or a corrupt buffering destination.

Same issues. Stops very randomly. Sometimes stops mid-song, often after the first track plays. Pressing play again will repeat the previous song. This is happening to me consistently on my MacBook Pro (wifi), iMac (wifi), iPhone (both wifi and LTE) and iPad. Very disappointing and frustrating, often leads me to give up on iTunes Radio and play my own tracks.

OH, and evey time I skip ahead to fix for their glitches it counts against the ridiculous 6-skip/hr limit. This has to be fixed or it's simply not going to be worth using this over Pandora or another service anymore.

I too have this problem where iTunes Radio would just suddenly stop or not play at all on my iPhone. When iOS 7 first came out, and my 4S phone iOS was upgraded, iTunes Radio worked fine, I was listening to music on my iPhone until after maybe a week and it just started being unreliable. Checked in on this site months ago and saw that many are having the same problem. Followed a few suggestions like signing out of, then signing in again to, iTunes and restarting my phone but those still didn't fix it. Now, I am back here and have just read the latest 10 posts to find out if the bug has been fixed and I guess there's no fix from apple yet.

Along with this problem, is anyone experiencing a problem with iCloud password? I can sometimes work around by restarting my ipod to get songs to play on iTunes Radio without stopping. Kinda weird that it just skips every song in the station, then the station just stops. If anyone finds a permanent answer, please post it on here!

Update to my previous post: i experience none of these problems when I am on my home wifi. Maybe it has to do with public/school/company wifi and their internet settings. Is this true for anyone else that is currently having an issue?

nope, like I said before it has nothing to do with anything on OUR end.

My iphone/MBP/iMac/iPad all stop playing once the playlist freezes.

My iOS devices can be on Cellular and not WiFi.. it syncs up with them as soon as it freezes on my iMac. I have been able to sign out and back into iCloud and sometimes fix the freeze. But it eventually freezes again.

I have a custom station with 10 artists added. Still plays. I have the SAME artists on another custom station, it's frozen. the ONLY difference? I have 11 artists in the 2nd. I think it played 13-14 songs before it froze, and I did NOT press skip at all. I created the stations as a test.

the only "solution" right now, do not add any more than 10 artists/songs to any station.

    GENIUS!  This solved the problem.

I counted and had 14 songs included in the "Play More Like This" bucket.  I deleted several until I got down to 10 and pressed play...

Result: The station started on the same song it had been stuck-on-and-stopping-after all morning... I pressed "Skip" and voila, a new song started playing.

Keep the "Play More Like This" count at 10 or fewer and this problem doesn't exist!

Sorry...not for me.  I have 1 entry in the "Play More Like This" bucket and still have the issue.

After reading this.. I decided to try something.

I tried to play the first station that froze on me.. there was like 20+ artists added to it.

Pressed play on station, still frozen.

Deleted 1 random artist... pressed play. It did.

Re-added artist.. still playing after 2 hours.

Wondering if iTunes gets confused, and simply changing the number of artists in the lineup (by removing one) unfreezes it. I'm going to keep playing this station until it freezes, and try the delete/add thing again and see if nothing else I can keep the station going.

I'm still convinced it's an iTunes problem on Apple's end, but this *may* be a quick fix until Apple addresses it.

    Just a little update.

I have been listening to a previously frozen radio station all weekend.. Still having random freezes.

Remove 1 artist, press play and it *will* play again. (Sometimes I had to remove 2 artists though) And then I re add the removed artist.

Radio station with over 20 added artists in it, sometimes I can listen to 15+ songs.. other times 2-3 before a freeze. But I can always get the station restarted now.

    Making progress.

I have nothing but disdain for iTunes Radio. I tried it on my AppleTV, Mac and iPad. On all three devices songs stop playing before they are complete.  The lack of reliability is significant to the point that I stopped trying to use the service. Hey Apple....get it together. You launched a service that is not reliable.  Heading back to Pandora...that works and every song plays to the end and low and behold all songs are followed by another song...just like a radio station!

Why isn't this talked about more?  I tried using iTunes Radio again recently and same problem. The songs stop playing half way into it.

So, I've tried all of the suggestions and a few of my own.

    1.) Changing DNS settings= nothing

2.) Deleting number of favorite suggestions= no improvement

3.) Deleting all stations and trying different ones= no joy.   Still catches after nearly every song.

I LOVED iRadio in the beginning.  I even raved about it on FB (something I rarely do).  I'm disappointed.  Traded in two Apple phones last week.  May do more later this year.

I think I got radio working now - 6 songs in a row so far!

Somehow iTunes is tied to Safari. Try this:

    1. quit iTunes
    2. open Safari>Preferences>Privacy
    3. click the "Details..." button under "Remove All Website Data..."
    4. find "apple.com" and Remove it then click Done
    5. launch iTunes and start a radio station - it should ask you for your password
    6. start listening to your radio station

If that doesn't work, try removing all of your cookies and website data.
