newly updated iTunes 11.1 shows old podcasts which can't be deleted... any ideas for a solution?

v12.5.5.5 and this is STILL happening?! The last entry on this thread was 2014!! Seriously Apple ***?
I rebuild my Windows machine (a common thing that needs to be done so stfu Apple with your 5 authorised devices bs) and after reinstalling iTunes and it finding my itunes library I suddenly have 2 listings for all my podcasts. I have tried deleting the podcasts and the listing still remains. So is my iTunes library haunted by ghosts now?
I've tried looking for registry entries I could delete, with no success; and even creating a new iTunes library did not solve the problem. The moment I added the episodes back into the library the double entries reappeared. The only thing I can think is there must have been a change in the formatting at Apple's end and they neglected to inform their podcast providers or just don't care.
I have hundreds of episodes of Global Trance Grooves, Pure Trance Radio, Open Up with Simon Patterson and Aly & Fila FSoE so there's no way I'm re-downloading them all on my crappy internet connection.
Does anyone know of a way to delete these ghost entries? I've given up on re-adding the episodes now. I just don't care any more. I'll just download the ones I want again - I just want these bloody ghosts gone.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Ah, I just noticed the comment above. So if you press Alt and Delete on a qwerty keyboard it does delete the podcast completely, including - if you choose to, the entire file.
I guess I have no choice but to re-download the episodes. You suck Apple. These are the simple errors you guys never seem to care about but make our experience all the poorer for not having a presence on these forums. Microsoft always reply - even if many times it's not helpful. Just saying, you could learn form them.
I too have this issue on my Mac and need to get it cleaned up again.
Same issue... I need to scroll through pages of old podcasts that I have listened to already to see the podcasts that I have downloaded. It seems that only way that the old podcasts can be removed is to redownload them and then delete them.
What a crap implementation.
Same problem here. Episodes remain listed but with an icon to download. Only way to remove the list of non-downloaded episodes is to Unsubscribe from the Podcast. But if I do that, iTunes won't download new episodes. I'd have to go to the iTunes store, check for a new episode and download manually. I tried redownloading and deleteing episodes and they still stay on the list. With Podcasts that have tons of episodes this is infurating.
glad its not just me that think this is a major f-up. they need to fix this today !
same issue - hope for a fix soon
Same issue. Hoping to have this fixed.
Not just Mac users - iTunes for Windows does the same thing.
Remember Apple doesn't monitor the support forums. Use the feedback link in iTunes to report the problem.
Ugh. Not only can I not delete podcasts, but it automatically deleted a ton of podcasts in my library.
Same problem with not being able to delete older podcasts. I've submitted a complaint to Apple via the feedback form.
Yes. HUNDREDS of old podcasts appeared and can not be removed.
In addition to not being able to delete podcasts, the "SUBSCRIBE" button has been turned on for most of my podcasts.
I have the same behaviour, but it appears to be a bug in the "list view". Some podcasts display old episodes, others do not.
For me, when I change to the "My Podcasts" view the old episodes are not visible, and there is an icon for "Old Episodes". Be careful if you press it, the next view is "Add All" and "Done". Your mouse pointer will be over "Add All". Although if you hit "Add All" old episodes are only added to the visible podcasts, and not automatically downloaded. I have found that I could delete them again without downloading.
'Tis shame, as list view was my preferred choice. I'll have to use "My Podcasts" view until the bug fix.
This really *****. I've tried to create a playlist of the podcasts that I wanted to listen to and that doesn't seem to work either. Neither pleased nor delighted. 😟
